BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT BOEING 767
The Boeing 767 is a mid- to large-size, mid- to long-range, wide-body twin-engine jet airliner. It was Boeing's first wide-body twinjet. The 767 is produced in three fuselage lengths. The original 767-200 entered service in 1982, followed by the 767-300 in 1986, and the extended-range 767-400ER in 2000. The extended-range 767-200ER and 767-300ER models entered service in 1984 and 1988, respectively, while a production freighter version, the 767-300F (based on the 767-300ER fuselage), debuted in 1995.
Boeing 767 took its maiden flight on September 26, 1981. The first delivery occurred on August 19, 1982, to United Airlines.
The worst accident to Boeing 767 happened on May 26, 1991, when Lauda Air Flight 004 crashed in Thailand, killing all 223 people on board. The aircraft involved was a Boeing 767-300ER, that was delivered new to Lauda Air on October 16, 1989.
