BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT LOCKHEED LODESTAR

The Lockheed Model 18 Lodestar is a passenger transport aircraft. The prototype was converted from Lockheed Model 14 Super Electra, in order to improve the type's economics. The modified aircraft, designated Model 18, first flew in this form on September 21, 1939. The first newly built Model 18 made its first flight on February 2, 1940.

The worst accident to Lockheed Model 18 Lodestar happened on December 28, 1974, when private aircraft, owned by Edwin Ortiz, crashed immediately after takeoff from Tikal Airport in Guatemala. All 24 people on board were killed.
